DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT (Ph.D OD)

The PhDOD Program  would equip and enable you  with the following competencies:

 

  • Understanding and appreciating of external/internal changes confronting organizations in today’s exponential times (fast changing and complex world)
  • Facilitating to utilize Thinking Tools (Frameworks, Perspectives, Processes) to LEAD and MANAGE Change in the organization –identifying potential challenges for changes,waving multiple mindsets/perspectives and engaging the organization in planned change processes.
  • Facilitating to choose and apply positive Planned Change strategies, approaches, processes, and inside-out & outside-in activities to use in organization development interventions (ODI)
  • Facilitating to assess, design, engage and conduct action research programs that contribute to new knowledge of OD to the world at a real focal organization to initiate, implement, document, and evaluate change.
  • Facilitating and advocacy to use OD as a management strategy to develop people capital in organizations.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATION FOR ADMISSION

Admission to the program is considered for the applicant who fulfills the following entry requirements:

  1. Master’s Degree with a thesis in Organization Development, Business Administration, Management or any related fields from the institution accredited by the Ministry of Education Thailand.
  2. GPA of at least 3.50 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent.
  3. TOEFL score of at least 620 PBT or 213 CBT or an IELTS (Academic) overall band of at least 6.5. The certificate of TOEFEL score must be within 2 years valid for the prospective applicants of non-English native speaking countries.
  4. In case of unavailability of TOEFL score, prospective applicants of non-native English speaking countries are required to take the English Proficiency Test with Graduate School of English, Assumption University.
  5. Minimum five years of work experience in their own fields of specialization or industry.
  6. Three acceptable letters of recommendation from former instructors and current employers or supervisors. The letters must be sealed and signed by the recommenders.
  7. A complete document that articulates “Statement of Purpose” which are reasons for attending the doctoral program, such as an draft proposal of no more than 3,000 words that outlines a potential research in the field of Organization Development and Change, consisting of what is to be researched; why it is to be researched; who is to be researched; and what potential contributions are for the organization and society.

SELECTION CRITERIA

For applicants with a Master’s Degree from any field, admission will be granted only after they have passed the oral entrance examination.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

Requirement  1:

  • Students must complete all required major courses and pass Q.E exam and all grades must have been released. In students’ unofficial transcripts, the grade “I” is not acceptable.

 Requirement  2:

  • Students must check their dissertations by Turnitin. Similarity shouldn’t be more than 20%.
  • Advisers must approve students’ paper to conduct proposal oral presentation.
  • Students must submit adviser’s proposal approval form, dissertation checklist and dissertation consultation log such as Intervention Log, Dialog to OD office.
  • Students must pass your PROPOSAL defense presentation approved by committee.

Requirement  3:

  • Students must check their dissertations by Turnitin. Similarity shouldn’t be more than 20%.
  • Advisers must approve students’ paper to conduct final oral presentation.
  • Students must submit adviser’s final approval form, dissertation checklist and dissertation consultation log such as Intervention Log, Dialog to OD office.
  • Students must pass your FINAL defense presentation approved by committee.

 Requirement  4:  (AFTER  FINAL  DEFENSE)

–          Firstly, studentsneed to amend your papers according to the comments and suggestions by committee members.

–          Then, students have to find an editor for grammar checking and get approval signature from your editor (use the attached grammar checking form). Please find out the information about editor & fees for grammar checking at Graduate School of English @ 02-300-4543 Ext: 1348.

–          After checking grammar, students must send a soft file of your dissertation to your advisor for final approval for binding.

–     Students must send grammar checking proof form and adviser’s approval for binding to OD office.

–          And, students must send clean 4 LOOSE HARD COPIES OF THEIR DISSERTATION WITH A4 PAPERS WHICH ARE CORRECTED AND FULLY ENDORSED BY ADVISER AND READY FOR BINDING BEFORE DUE DATE.

–    Students must submit SOFT FILE of your dissertation in CD together with hard copies.

Requirement  5:

–  Students must have the dissertation published in an international recognized journal or academic publication which has the peer review before graduation.

– Students must submit (1) Adviser’s Approval for article publication (2) Journal Acceptance Letter (3) Journal Cover Page (4) Journal Table of Contents (5) Full article with page numbers from journal (6) a short article of one passage for knowledge management, not more than 100-200

  • Students must have attended at least 2 International Conferences or Seminars.

  • Students must submit the result ofIELTS overall band of at least 5 or TOFEL score of 580 PBT or 237 CBT.

 Requirement  9:

  • You must settle all financial obligations to the University.
