Message from the Editorial Team

In less than six months, the second of Thailand’s gripping episode of “Man versus Nature” has played out, this time involving twelve teenage football players and their 25-year old coach being held up in a dangerous cave in Chiengrai for well into two weeks now. In effect, the cave which was their recourse in the face of approaching hill side deluges became their trap, and thereby the entire world has been gripped by the Thai football story, other than the dramatic world cup in Russia. Two adept British cave divers, the death of a dedicated Thai navy diver, the hillside accident involving ten rescue team members, and the world’s media, experts, critics and detractors of things humane have all engaged our attention. What stands out though, even as a multinational rescue team has begun operations on July 8, 2018 is the care, the empathy and emotions, bravery, sacrifice and the ingenious use of technology to actually save human lives, even as we at the Graduate School of Business prepare the release of this issue of Connect 17. Themed as “Caring Responsibility” we hope that readers will be reminded that the world and all its allurements and dangers in relation to nature will cherish caring, particularly for the responsibilities we face as enlightened individuals. All told, we accolade the rescue efforts of the beleaguered football team and their coach, with a sobering truism from the Saint Theresa of Kolkota” The hands that help are holier than the lips that pray.”

Duties And Responsibilities


The Information Management, Communication and Technology Section of the Division of Administration of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking the services of English speaking IT Helpdesk Assistants for short-term assistance in the preparation process, as well as to perform various functions during the upcoming United Nations Framework for Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference, 27 August- 12 September to be held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok.

IT Help Desk/ICT Clerk (16 persons):

– Work together with the UN IT Team to guide and provide information to delegates on IT related issues;

– Provide first level IT trouble shooting and/or report trouble shooting problems to the supervisor;

– Ensure Computer and Media Centres are kept tidy and provide general support equipment maintenance, as required; and

– Perform other duties as assigned.

Result Of Service

IT Help Desk/ICT Clerk: Efficiently and timely carry out the IT support during the meeting.


Qualifications/Special Skills

Academic Qualifications: University’s degree, IT related is required.

Experience: Experience in providing IT service for international meeting is a plus.

Language: Good command of written and spoken English.

GSB Educational Field Trip to Toyota Motor

On June 22, 2018 the Graduate School of Business (GSB) organized an Educational Field Trip to Toyota Motor Thailand Ban Pho Sustainable Eco Plant to witness their “Fortuner” and “Hi-Lux” segment assembly line.

The trip was led by the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) and accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chittipa, Dr. Thongdee, Dr. Dinesh and IBM, ME and OM MBA students respectively.


Freshmen Seminar 3/2017 Moments

June 16-17, 2018 marked one of the memorable event of the Academic Year 2017, the Freshmen Seminar 3/2017 at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Pattaya. In line with the concept “Relationship Sustainability” the weekend seminar kicked off with “Bai Sri”, the Thai traditional welcoming ceremony with it’s uniqueness to welcome Freshmen MBA students with spirited blessings and good luck for their future endeavor.

The afternoon activities were conducted by Team Friends and Dr. Papitchaya (Noey) with a short business plan workshop followed by ice breaking and team building games.

Meeting new people and building relationship is good but what matters later is to how to sustain that relationship and that’s what the overall weekend was all about – Relationship Sustainability.
