Many people from all walks of life acknowledge their need to deepen their knowledge of English and to raise their proficiency in using it for a wide range of purposes. The program is based on the conviction that educated students from Thailand and the region will benefit from an indepth study of many aspects of the English language and the literatures to which it has given rise. The program will emphasis on the need to scrutinize the claims made on behalf of English as a global language, and to develop a sense of independent identity through English.


Program Objectives

The curriculum of the MA in English Language and Literatures is de-signed for persons holding a bachelor?s degree in English or a related field who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge of the English lan-guage and its literatures.

The program seeks to prepare individuals who are:
1. Effective and skilled in oral and written communication in English
2. Able and willing to engage in the process of critical thinking and problem solving
3. Able and willing to work independently in the pursuit of their objectives
4. Able and willing to carry out research and inquiry into their chosen areas of interest

Graduates of this Masters program will:
1. Acquire effective skills to interpret texts critically
2. Develop abilities to analyze and appreciate ways in which the English language is used creatively
3. Gain awareness of and insights into cultural and literary works
4. Develop skills that will enable them to conduct and inquire into their chosen areas of interest
5. Broaden their own personal and professional capacities from an educational perspective
