Message from the Board Chairman of the Graduate School of Information Technology |
The rapid process of technological and industrial development has created an intense demand for advanced training in the field of Computer Information Systems and Computer and Engineering Management. Hundreds of educational institutions in several countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, are offering doctoral degree programs to meet the demand but Ph.D. programs in neither the field of Computer Information Systems nor Computer and Engineering Management have been established in Thailand prior to 1991. Therefore, Assumption University has sought and obtained permission from the Ministry of University Affairs to start two Ph.D. programs, one in Computer Information Systems and the other in Computer and Engineering Management.
Studying for a doctoral degree is not an easy task but the attempt is highly challenging and worthwhile. Both the students and the professors will have to try their best to be successful. The Ph.D. graduates will be able to help in alleviating the acute problem of computer-and-engineering-related human resource shortage. Some Ph.D. graduates may become the leaders in the applications of the computer and engineering knowledges in business establishment, industrial plants, as well as government agencies. Some Ph.D. graduates will be in the position to embark on the path to become top researchers in well-known research organizations. Other Ph.D. graduates can make their contributions in colleges and universities to produce more computer and engineering human resources for the benefits of all parties concerned.
All in all, we are fully convinced that the two Ph.D. Programs we are offering at Assumption University will meet the demand not only for Thailand but also for other countries in Asia the Pacific.
