Assumption University of Thailand (AU) continues to advance global academic collaboration with a strategic visit to the SAIC Motor Training Center in Shanghai. The initiative focuses on new energy vehicles (NEVs), intelligent connectivity, and the development of skilled talent to meet the mobility demands of Southeast Asia’s future.
Led by AU President Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., the delegation included Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President for Educational Innovation and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Gao Li, Assistant Vice President and Director of the Thai–Chinese International College. They were welcomed by Mr. Zhang Dongchi, Director of the SAIC Training Center, and Mr. Hua Guoqi, Dean of the Automotive College.
The program featured a guided tour of SAIC’s Intelligent Connected Vehicle Training Base, showcasing advanced facilities in autonomous driving simulation and new energy battery maintenance — vital elements of China’s green mobility transformation.
Discussions focused on aligning academic programs with industrial advancements, including joint curriculum development, faculty exchanges, and technical training initiatives. The visit concluded with an agreement to co-develop the Sino-Thai New Energy Vehicle Technician Joint Training Program, set to launch in 2026.
Further collaboration was discussed, including the establishment of overseas training bases to support long-term workforce development.
This forward-looking partnership reinforces AU’s mission to integrate innovation, sustainability, and global engagement—empowering future leaders in green automotive technology.
