Powering the Future: Shanghai and AU Plug Into NEV Collaboration

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed a high-level government delegation from Shanghai’s Hongkou District on October 17, 2025, for strategic discussions on education, science, and industry collaboration, with a special focus on new energy vehicles (NEV) and ASEAN expansion.
The delegation toured the Industry–Education Integration Base of the International NEV Science and Education Alliance, a joint initiative between AU and SAIC Motor Thailand (MG). The base integrates teaching, practical training, research, and marketing to cultivate future talent in the NEV sector.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President for Educational Innovation and Graduate Studies presented AU’s strategic approach to building a comprehensive ecosystem that connects academia, industry, and regional partners to accelerate technological innovation and workforce development in ASEAN.
Leading the delegation, Vice District Chief Wu Weiping highlighted Hongkou District’s commitment to supporting universities and enterprises in going global, providing both policy and resource backing. He underscored the importance of a collaborative model that unites government leadership, university expertise, and industry innovation.
Both parties expressed a strong commitment to developing a forward-looking, mutually beneficial cooperation platform to drive sustainable growth and enhance ASEAN–China collaboration in the NEV sector.
