Shanghai Municipal Committees Delegation Strengthens Thailand-China Ties at ABAC

Assumption University (ABAC) had the distinct honor of welcoming a high-level delegation from the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), together with senior executives from SAIC MG, to strengthen academic, industrial, and international cooperation between Thailand and China.


The delegation was led by Zhao Zhuping, Standing Committee Member of the Shanghai CPPCC and Deputy Director of the Committee on Foreign Friendship Affairs. He was accompanied by Zhang Min, Deputy Director of the Research Office of the Shanghai CPPCC; Xu Mei; Yao Jie; Guo Ying; and Liu Gongbo.


The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by University executives and academic leaders, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Dr. Kitikorn Dowpiset, and Executives from SAIC MG, including President Da Shenshen and Jia Weichao, Customer Service Director


Also joining the welcoming session were Dr. Satha Phongsatha, Dr. Ravivat Rugsaj, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nutthaphut Pandjad, Zhao Peiqin, together with representatives from the International Cooperation Office of the Thai-Chinese International College.


The meeting highlighted the strong strategic relationship between the Shanghai government, SAIC MG, and Assumption University in advancing Thailand’s electric vehicle (EV) industry and future workforce development. As SAIC Group operates under the Shanghai municipal framework, both parties discussed expanding cooperation in EV education, automotive innovation, artificial intelligence, and talent development to support Thailand’s rapidly growing automotive and new energy sectors.



Assumption University proudly emphasized its role as one of Thailand’s pioneering universities in EV talent development and industry-integrated education. Through collaboration with SAIC MG and key national organizations such as the Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI), Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), and the Higher Education sector, AU has become a leading collaborative platform connecting academia, government agencies, and industry partners.


The discussions also focused on establishing skill standards, promoting internships and applied research, and developing local EV professionals capable of supporting Thailand’s transformation into a regional hub for next-generation automotive technologies.


This important visit further strengthened the long-standing friendship between Thailand and China while reinforcing AU’s commitment to international cooperation, innovation-driven education, and sustainable industrial development.
