Assumption University of Thailand (AU) has taken a bold step forward in global education by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Nanhu Vocational and Technical College. The signing ceremony took place at Nanhu College’s Cultural Center in Shanghai during a university delegation visit led by AU President, Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g.
This strategic partnership outlines collaboration in three cutting-edge areas: intelligent connected vehicles, healthcare training, and metaverse-based education. As part of the agreement, AU and Nanhu will co-establish a Sino-Thai Intelligent Connected Vehicle Joint Laboratory aimed at developing curriculum tailored to the needs of ASEAN markets.
The AU delegation was welcomed by Prof. Jianliu Zhu, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Nanhu College, along with Vice President Zhou Yifeng. The group toured Nanhu’s advanced training centers, including the 5G Digital Creativity Training Center, International Cruise Training Base, and the New Energy Vehicle Smart Connectivity Center—all housed within the college’s Metaverse Digital Interactive Space, a showcase of immersive educational technology.
In addition to academic cooperation, the MoU includes student and faculty exchange initiatives. Over the next three years, Nanhu College will host 50 Thai students and send Chinese faculty to co-develop localized content in Thailand, strengthening bilateral collaboration and innovation in education.
This agreement reinforces AU’s mission to integrate technology with education and to prepare its students for global careers through real-world, cross-cultural experiences.
