ABAC and SAIC–MG Strengthen Strategic Collaboration on EV and New Energy Development


Assumption University of Thailand recently welcomed executives from SAIC Motor–MG Motor in a high-level meeting led by President Sirichai Fonseca and the university’s executive team.


The delegation included key industry leaders: Suroj Sangsnit, representing Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand; Pongsak; and Jason Wei Chao. The meeting focused on advancing collaboration in electric vehicle (EV) innovation, research, and academic integration.



Both parties discussed the consolidation of joint research initiatives and academic activities, particularly in the fields of EV technology and new energy systems. A key emphasis was placed on developing structured internship programs that align with Thailand–China strategic policy frameworks, aiming to cultivate future talent and strengthen bilateral cooperation in sustainable mobility.


On this occasion, MG highlighted a significant commitment from SAIC Motor Shanghai, announcing support through hardware and software sponsorship valued at approximately 4 million RMB. This investment will contribute to the future development of ABAC’s research center, enhancing its capabilities in EV innovation and applied research.


This collaboration marks an important step in positioning ABAC as a regional hub for EV education, research, and industry partnership, supporting both national and international agendas for clean energy and technological advancement.
