Education Society of Singapore, Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Visits Assumption University to Explore New Academic Collaboration

Assumption University of Thailand welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Education Society of Singapore (ESS), Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia (UBC) on 20 August 2026 to explore opportunities for strategic academic collaboration and to develop a roadmap for future educational initiatives.

The delegation was led by Mr. Peter Marcus Lim, President of the Education Society of Singapore (ESS), and included Dr. Gerry Turcotte, President, Mr. Antonio Daling, Associate Director, and Dr. Emil A. Canlas, Registrar of Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

The visit provided an important platform for both institutions to exchange ideas and explore innovative models of international higher-education collaboration. Discussions focused on developing a strategic roadmap for a University Transfer Program and credit articulation, enabling students to progress more flexibly across partner institutions while recognizing and transferring academic credits.

Another key area of discussion was the potential collaboration on an Assumption University Credit Bank, designed to support flexible, lifelong, and stackable learning pathways. The initiative reflects the growing importance of alternative learning models that allow learners to accumulate academic credits and qualifications progressively.

The delegation also explored opportunities to develop stackable learning programs in high-demand fields, particularly *Business, Digital and Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and English Language Learning. These programs could provide learners with flexible pathways to acquire industry-relevant knowledge and skills while progressively building toward formal academic qualifications.

The meeting emphasized a shared commitment to student mobility, flexible learning, international academic collaboration, credit recognition, and future-ready education. Both sides expressed their interest in continuing discussions and working toward a concrete implementation roadmap for the proposed initiatives.

The visit marks another step toward strengthening Assumption University’s international partnerships and expanding innovative educational opportunities for students in Thailand and beyond.
